Warrior Goddess Training by Heatherash Amara was a really good book. I saw it somewhere on Instagram and I figured I would pick it up. I honestly did not know what kind of book this was except for a self help book for Goddesses. When I got the book, I saw that the foreword was written by Don Miguel Ruiz, who is the author of The Four Agreements and The Mastery of Love, which happen to be two of my favorite books. That, in a sense, gave me a feel of how the flow of the book was going to be.
Each chapter, which Amara calls “lessons” begins with a quote. Everyone loves a good quote! I liked the way that she wrote, it was very simple and straight forward (sometimes self help books can be long winded and elusive). She gives a lot of personal experiences as she explains each lesson and how to master each lesson. The lessons are building blocks or stepping stones, if you will, to ultimately become the ultimate Warrior Goddess according to your truth.
In the beginning of the book I thought to myself “Hey, I already do some of this” or “I have practiced this exercise on my own before”. It was nice knowing that I was naturally on the right path. As I kept reading, I started to think and reflect differently as Amara causes you to be honest with yourself and really think over your life. There were a lot of pointers and lessons taken. I knew I still had work to do the further I read. What I like is that within each lesson, the author really makes you look within yourself to answer questions she poses. I had to dig deep for some of these answers because I had never been asked these questions before or I had never thought of them.
One thing about this book is that this is an active read. I would definitely suggest having a notepad on hand as you read through. There are plenty of exercises Amara asks you to participate in that you would probably need to write down. Most of these exercises are self reflection exercises, but you need to write it out to see exactly what was in your mind.
Another thing that I loved about the book was that at the end of each lesson, there are “Resources” that are made up of gifts and explorations. The gifts are a few bullet points of the major points and the explorations are things that you can do to embody the said lesson.
Overall I would recommend Warrior Goddess Training to any woman who wants to walk boldly as a Warrior Goddess. This book is a really great and simple guide to honestly be the woman you are meant to be, as the subtitle suggests. There are so many takeaways I cannot even count them. This book helped me see why I think certain ways and it has allowed me to create various ways to improve myself every day. Two things that I promised myself is that I was going to work on speaking my truth more often and not worry about pleasing others as well as learning to quiet my “inner judge” and “inner victim”and walk in truth.
Even if you do not agree with the entire content of the book, every woman can take away at least one thing from this book. I mean…who wouldn’t want to be a Warrior Goddess and become the woman that you are meant to be!?
